RADIO SEVA – Submitting Content: Metadata and Artwork
This process is best viewed and completed on a laptop or desktop with a good internet connection.
Welcome to RADIO SEVA…! We are glad you decided to become part of our broadcasting – and all the promise and potential it represents. There are some set-up details that need to be completed, submitted, and processed by RADIO SEVA before broadcasting your music can begin.
First: Adding Metadata
You will need to insert into your MP3 songs the required metadata for each song you submit. This will allow your name, song title, album title, etc. to be displayed when being broadcast. NOTE: ANY SONG SUBMITTED THAT DOES NOT HAVE THE REQUIRED METADATA WILL NOT BE BROADCAST. Metadata not only displays your track details to the listener, but is required by law to be transmitted to your PRO to better insure your chances for royalty collection.
The metadata fields that need to be completed are:
Contributing Artist (Same as Artist)
Artist (Same as Contributing Artist)
To add the required metadata in Windows to each submitted MP3, simply
Right Click on the MP3 file
Select “Properties” at the bottom
Select the “Details” tab
Place your cursor to the right of each metadata category and type-in the correct information
Be sure to check your wording and spelling. Once it’s entered, that’s what people will see when listening to your song, and, that is what your PRO will use to determine royalty distribution.
When you have completed entering all of the metadata, Click “Apply” and then "OK".
To add the required metadata in MAC to each submitted MP3, simply
1. Right Click on the MP3 file
2. Select "Song Info" (or "Edit Song Info")
3. Find the metadata field. Place your cursor inside each metadata category and type-in the correct information
4. Be sure to check your wording and spelling. Once it’s entered, that’s what people will see when listening to your song, and, that is what your PRO will use to determine royalty distribution.
5. When you have completed entering all of the metadata, Click “Done” or "OK".
Second: Uploading your Album Cover Artwork and MP3 files to RADIO SEVA
After you have put the metadata into each mp3 file, you will need to upload them to RADIO SEVA. Using your email address from your completed invitation, I will send you a link to one of these two file sharing programs: Google Drive or Dropbox.
Google Drive Shared Folder
1 - If you do not use Dropbox, a Google Drive Shared Folder is an easy alternative.
I will create a shared folder - using the email address you submitted in your agreement form - for you to use at any time to upload material to the station (art; new releases, etc.).
It will always be there for you, and, only you and I will have access to it. I will send you a link to the folder. Click on the link to access your folder.
2 – Look at the upper left-hand corner. Click on the “New” button. Select “File Upload”. Select the files you are going to upload and click “Open”. The files will be uploaded to our folder. Screenshots of the process are shown below.
When you have finished uploading your mp3 files, use this same process to upload the cover art for each album represented by an uploaded mp3.
Dropbox Shared Folder
The process for creating a shared folder in Dropbox is very similar. I will use the email you have submitted in your invitation to create a shared folder to be accessed and used by only you and me. An email will be sent to give you access. Follow the basic commands on the right side of the window to upload your files to the shared folder.
Album and Artist(s) Artwork
Your album artwork will be displayed along with your song information when your songs are broadcast. The most optimum size is 2800 X 2800 pixels at 150dpi; the file needs to be a JPEG file. Name the artwork file using Your Name - Album Name - #. Also…send us your favorite promo picture of you and/or your band. We will be posting pictures and links of RADIO SEVA artists on our website.
Artist Website and Social Media Links
Send an email to with the artist name and links to your website, social media sites, and download sites. We will add these to your artist and gallery photos on the RADIO SEVA website.
If you have any questions, you can always call or email (firstname.lastname@example.org) me during normal business hours. I’ll be glad to help.
